This is a pre-announcement of an upcoming joint seminar and workshop entitled “Living in Transition: New Directions in Governmentality Studies in Relation to Health, Climate Change, Mobility and Transnationality” that will be organised by C-DiT and the Interdisciplinary Health Research (IHR) group at AAU.
IHR and C-DiT have found a common interest in exploring the relevance and applicability of various theories of governmentality derived from the later work of Michel Foucault. We are especially concerned with the very recent debates on post-governmentality that attempt to critically rethink Foucault’s ideas (from the 1980s), both in relation to new areas of application (eg. climate change, health, mobility and transnationality) and in relation to developing new theories and methods appropriate to tracking the transformations in governance, self, control, power, body, borders, security, environment and citizenship taking place in contemporary societies and polities across the world, eg. in so-called advanced liberal societies.
The seminar and workshop will take place in June 2013. Watch out for more details.
